A Real Downtrodden Tampa Bay Sports Fan

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: MLB, Rays | COMMENTS: None Yet

The last couple weeks have been real tough for me as a diehard fan of Tampa Bay Sports.  In one 2 week span, I saw the chances for a playoff football season, come and go, even before the first game started.  To top it off, our young baseball team, experienced a late season collapse usually reserved for teams that sit at the bottom of every division.
The downfall of this team was easily noticeable to most avid fans before the start of the season, and while I have given the new regime and the front office a lot of credit for [...]

1 More to .500

11 straight losses and 12 out of 13 overall has the Tampa Bay Rays 1 game over .500.  For a team who not only 2 weeks ago had a chance to make a final run at a playoff spot, this is to say the least, dissapointing.
The Rays went from being the 3rd best run differential team in the league to 13 days later being 8th.  By the time the season is over in 19 games, who knows if we’ll even have a positive run differential.
In the 13 games, one of which was a W, we have scored a paltry 35 [...]

7 Straight

In what is becoming unwatchable baseball, the Rays lost their 7th straight game on Tuesday night to the New York Yankees to put us 17.5 games out of the AL East race and 8.5 games out of the Wild Card Race with 23 games remaining.   According to ESPN.com’s chances of making playoff %, the Rays are sitting @ .3%.
We’d essentially have to reel off about 15 or 16 straight and the Sox would have to go on a losing streak like we are currently on, neither of which is going to happen.
Once again, last nights culprit was the bullpen, [...]

Rays Squander Gem From Phenom Wade Davis

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: MLB, Rays | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a game that ended the way this season is going to end, in a disaster, the Rays squandered a 3-1 lead in the 9th inning and lost to the Tigers 5-3 on Sunday.
It was a highly anticipated game for many Rays fans as it was most fans first chance at seeing young phenom Wade Davis.  While many people were upset about the Scott Kazmir deal, the real reason the trade was made was due to the fact that Davis was ready for the bigs.  He did not dissapoint throwing a real masterpiece.  7 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 r, [...]

31 Games Remaining…Goodbye

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: MLB, Rays | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Last nights’ loss to the Red Sox might have possibly been the final dagger in the Rays season.  We are now 6 games back behind the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card Standings with only 31 games remaining.
I’m a little surprised that the Rays trotted out Andy Sonnanstine in such a crucial game, but the trade of Scott Kazmir this weekend neccesitated that move.  It just hurts that it was in such a crucial game vs the team that we are chasing, a game that could make up 1 full game per victory or lose 1 full game per [...]
